Good day all,
Just wanted to let you know: I used http://www.dnsstuff.com/ to lookup
an IP-address (using the form saying "Reverse DNS lookup Enter IP/IPv6
(or host name)". When I hit the submit button, the following message
appeared:
<quote>
FORBIDDEN: Pre-fetching abuses our website.
If you are using the FireFox extension 'FasterFox', it is very poor and
will block you from websites that it abuses. Please uninstall it (and
perhaps add a comment to the FasterFox page. If you are not running it,
you are running some sort of poor extension that pre-fetches pages that
it shouldn't (ones without a 'link' marker). Once you have done this,
you can re-load this page. Note that if you do not remove the rogue
program, you will continue to see this message occasionally.
If everyone did this, it could easily quadruple the load on our server.

Using "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8)
Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5" (Firefox 1.5 RC3) and Fasterfox 0.7.9.
Note: The Fasterfox setting I used was "Optimized". So it seems that
they think that only links with "a link marker"(?) should be prefetched
(according to some spec somewhere?).
Regards
Hugo Heden
