[Fasterfox] Pre-fetching not utilizing any bandwidth

Hi Dennis,
Thanks for taking the time to make a report. Unfortunately, I don't have
access to an OS X machine on which to test Fasterfox, and according to the
results of your experiment, it sounds like it is possible that prefetching
doesn't work on OS X (although I can't imagine why).
Here is a site that really goes crazy on prefetching for me:
http://xulplanet.com/references/elemref/
You can also see exactly what was prefetched by typing "about:cache" in the
URL bar and viewing the disk cache.
If you don't notice any activity when clicking the link below, and your
cache doesn't show any extra pages cached, then I will definitely have to
seek out an OSX machine on which to run some tests and get this working
there.
Thanks again,
Tony

Subject: [Fasterfox] Pre-fetching not utilizing any bandwidth
Hello,
I recently installed the latest version of Fasterfox (0.7.9) on
Firefox 1.0.6. After loading all sorts of pages with both dynamic
and static links and content, I've concluded that enhanced
prefetching does not actually use any bandwidth to prefetch pages.
I've let it sit for up to a minute on different pages after they have
loaded (each with 20 - 100 static links) and activity monitor and
menumeters both do not report any bandwidth being used.
Clicking on those links doesn't yield any faster load times either.
I have tried Fasterfox on turbo settings and the custom setting to
make sure prefetching is on, and no luck.
I am running OS X 10.4.2 --- any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Dennis
