Sorry for barging in on the discussion, but would this feature make sense:
If a key ID contains a nntp: URL instead of an email address, Enigmail
encrypts posts to that news server using that key.
This could be used to ensure safe transport and storage of news, without
the need to leave any keys on the server. So you could, for example, use
a hosted news server without compromising security.
