Oh well, TB 3.0b1 is quite old (in fact from december, 9th). There have
been a lot changes to TB code since then. A beta 2 is still a time away.

I have tried to reproduce this with my actual setup
Enigmail version 0.96a (20090204-0836)
gpg (GnuPG) 1.4.9
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1b3pre)
Gecko/20090203 Shredder/3.0b2pre
but all is working well here. I'm working on 10.5.6, but on ppc and I
don't have gpg-agent running and am still using gpg 1.4.9.

This is a known bug in Thunderbird
(https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=433858) that has been
fixed on trunk and 1.9.1 branch only some days ago. Patrick has put a
workaround in enigmail 0.96a before, but this will not prevent the first
crash after changing enigmail version on older TB3.0 versions.
If you want to test again, please use the latest nightly build of
Thunderbird (called shredder, available at:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-trunk/
Please use the latest enigmail nightly. And please use it in a test
environment!
Ludwig
