[Enigmail] question regarding encryption and mailing lists

I didn't hear of any mail provider offering pgp signing/encryption
integrated in the webmailer itself. If you can install your own webmail
application on your own server, it could be possible.
There has been a plugin for SquirrelMail [1] which required GnuPG to be
installed on the same host but the development died as far as I know.
Roundcube webmail has this on the roadmap [2] but I don't think this
will be usable in the near future.
The installation of GnuPG on the server hosting the webmail application
introduces certain risks. With the Squirrelmail plugin for example you
had to put your secret key on this server. I would appreciate a
discussion on this topic, if it's not to far off-topic on this list.
