I have to admit that I anticipated reactions from long-term subscribers
as soon as I saw the Quick Start Guide, and the first "hello world"
messages appearing. Up to recently, the Enigmail list has had quite a
good mixture between announcements, technical discussion and user
support questions, and it's obvious that the focus seems has changed.
I am personally not very happy about the current situation since I think
that there is a mixture of usage discussions, technical issues and other
messages that targets a too broad audience. I.e. those interested in
more technical discussions and announcements won't like the many "Hi I'm
new to Enigmail" mails, and the others won't be interested in developer
discussions either. I agreed to let it go for a while to see how things
evolve, and I see now that we need to do something about it.
We are currently evaluating several options and I hope to find a
solution that is convenient for everyone soon. If anyone has any input
on this topic then I'm very keen to hear about it. So please forgive us
if these messages keep going for another few days until we have found
the best option.
