Nothing wrong with Skype for Free worldwide VoIP calling.

The Pidgin 'RSA Encryption' Plug-In isn't really 'based' on GnuPG.  It
does use an RSA algorithm with only Fingerprint verification required to
'confirm' Identity.  No passphrase required but a Key up to 4096 may be
'generated'.

If You truly wish to use Your GnuPG installation for IM then You should
look into the Psi IM Client.  With Pidgin I find the OTR [Off The
Record] Plug-In to be much faster and secure enough for a Chat
environment. ;)
