I am not going to save you from the burden of reading the OpenPGP RFC.
Inline OpenPGP has been well established since the earliest days of
RFC2440 (even RFC1991 if you want to go back to ClassicPGP) and compares
quite favorably to PGP/MIME (RFC3156).

None.  The necessity for neither has been well-established.

If you think so, then the proper place to address this is to the IETF's
OpenPGP working group.  X-PGP-Sig is not part of the IETF's OpenPGP RFCs
and for that reason it is very unlikely Enigmail will support it.  As
soon as it becomes part of an IETF OpenPGP RFC, then it is very likely
Enigmail will support it.
