As anyone who knows me can tell you, I don't do subtle criticisms.  If
I'm going to criticize your ideas, I'm going to do so directly and in an
open forum where there can be a record of your ideas and my response.
If I'm going to criticize you, I'm going to do so directly, face-to-face
and in a private venue, where we can talk candidly without worrying
about there being a record.

There is no red pen in that email.  It was an explanation of how I come
by my habit of dry and direct remarks.  If you think it's about you,
then that's what you bring to it, not what it is, and perhaps you should
look into that.
