Good point--hadn't thought about that.  However, I don't think it's
going to be a problem.  X.509 certificates can be seen as a subset of
OpenPGP certificates.  As long as you design your certificate manager
well, the difference between the two should be pretty much invisible to
end-users.

Or, do as I suggested.  :)  "All other keys ... could be collapsed into
a category of 'Missing or Untrusted Keys'.  If for some reason you
really need them, you could click on them and view them."

Patrick has historically been very good about being willing to implement
features that he thinks make Enigmail a better product.  Implementing it
is his job; discovering how to make Enigmail better is our job.  :)
