Well you're right ! I don't use it, but I saw this shortcut on a page 
for Google bar.

The easyer way is a), but, there are more and more keyboard shortcuts 
used in Fx and extensions, so the better should be b). For now, there is 
no preferences in WPE. This shall happen, but not yet (matter of time). 
I can give you a personnal rebinded version if you prefer : 
http://artis-tic.com/div/wpe016-rebind.xpi (the download sidebar is 
keyed on <ctrl+F6>, hope this is not in collision with something else).
