I need a little advice about whether extensions are the solution I should choose. Thanks in advance for any replies :-). The goal: A piece of software to be distributed freely which would log the URL typed in the address bar and then check a server to see if that URL is good/bad..etc.. and then show a green bar/button/something to indicate everything is OK or show a red popup saying be careful.. I want to develop something similar to mcafee siteadvisor's plug in. I have glossed over one code sample (the proverbial hello world plug in) . Question: 1) Is a plug in capable of this requirement? 2) Is a plug in loaded and started as soon as the browser is opened? 3) can a plug-in work like a "standard" stand-alone program, creating files (to log urls), matching etc.. making a warning box pop up? 4) Can anyone please let me have a pointer to a project which you think is similar to the requirements I have specified. (I did browse through the active projects list but was not sure which one to look up!) Thanks again, -A -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
