I am using the extension "Modify Headers" version 0.5.4 and I like it very much! I use it to expose firefox as a Mobile Device and testing Mobile Sites (setting a specific User-Agent and Mobile Phone Number). But I am missing one feature and was also not able to find another firefox plugin or extension that would fulfill my requirement: I miss the ability to set / overwrite any HTTP RESPONSE header. "Modify Headers" can set / overwrite the HTTP REQUEST header only. Use Case: Some Mobile Devices support a feature called MultiPartMime. This means a Website will send all images of a requested URL in some kind of a single ZIP file to the mobile device, so the device does not need to request every single image (e.g. bullets) individually which causes significant delays (latency) in loading a full page. Firefox does not support the Content-Type "MultiPartMime" and can therefore not display any pages for mobiles that get MultiPartMime content from a site. Therefore I need to set / overwrite the RESPONSE Header "Content-Type" to a standard value, so firefox can interpret the http response and display the site. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thanks and kind regards Jan Kruse Reference: http://mozdev.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=16508 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I have one question about XULMaker. What is the root reason that the XULMaker project is stopped? Can you tell me or where can I get the root reason? It only has 0.51 version. >From the Roadmap of XULMaker, it should be one powerful and wonderful tool for developing XUL application. You can save an image to your computer and then under the account settings you can have that image file loaded as your signature. I am unaware of having a signature from a website unless you are putting in an html signature and it has a tag that calls said image. But that should not affect you ability to send the message. So I guess my questions is, can you be more specific as to how you are trying to attach this signature? To do this you must first create the simple html file. I use gVim or Vi but your best bet is to open Notepad or your favorite text editor. Here are the steps you'll go through. 1: First open your text editor and put in a line of text like: 2: Save the file as signature.htm. I recommend saving it in your My Documents folder if your on Windows. If you are running Linux or Mac then place it someplace you can find it. 3: Go to Thunderbird. 4: Go to "Tools" > "Account Settings". (NOTE: Linux users go to Edit > Preferences if memory serves me. I'm on a windows box right now and don't have my Linux laptop with me.) 5: Make sure you have your account (usually lists your e-mail address on the left side of the "Account Settings" window.) selected and then on the right side of the window place a check in "Attach this signature:". 6: In the box below put in the path to the signature.htm file you made earlier 7: Click OK. That should be it. You can test it by composing an e-mail and see if your signature shows up. If your path is correct on your signature.htm file then it should pull your image from the website when a person gets your e-mail. NOTE: Your animated gif file is really large and people who get your message may not be happy to get a file that large to load. Also note that some e-mail clients have image blocking from unrecognized addresses, (Thunderbird does which I thank the devs for.) so your signature may be blocked where as a straight text one works best. Then again if you in Korea where almost everyone has broadband then it may not matter. Do what though wilt, but I don't recommend having large images in signatures. If you are interested in finding a XUL development tool, there are other similar projects being worked on that you can find in the Active Projects list at http://www.mozdev.org/projects/active.html If you are interested in restarting development of XULMaker, the process to take over an abandoned project is to contact the current project developers and then if we don't hear back from them we can make you a new developer. If you are interested in adopting this project, please let me know.
