[Cookieculler] installation

I've been using this fine extension for a long time now, but recently installed Xandros Linux, which comes with Firefox. When I attempt to install cookieculler , all seems OK until I restart Firefox. Cookieculler is not available under tools, nor is an icon available for the toolbar.

I also get about a one inch "bar" at the bottom of the FF window that says:

I also get this message when I click on the "options" button from the "extensions" box with cookieculler selected:

I have uninstalled/reinstalled twice with the same problem.
Any thoughts?
