It doesn't work. Well, try a newer version... You may have use an unstable version. For uninstall : 0) Stop mozilla 1) Go in you Mozilla/chrome/installed-chrome.txt and remove the line contening the string "conquery" (if it exist) 2) Remove the file conquery.jar in Mozilla/chrome/ or (depend on where you install it) in your profile/chrome/ directory. 3) Remove (backup before for if you enconter problem) the directory Mozilla/chrome/overlayinfo/ and the file chrome.rdf or in your profile : chrome/overlayinfo/ and the file chrome.rdf 4) Restart mozilla (it will rebuild file chrome.rdf and overlayinfo directory) Hope this will help you... -- Chadom From nobody Mon Jan 19 03:39:00 2004 Received: (qmail 68257 invoked from network); 17 Jan 2004 17:17:16 -0000 Received: from unknown (HELO k-se7e) (82.130.184.160) by mozdev.org with SMTP; 17 Jan 2004 17:17:16 -0000 Received: from [127.0.0.1] by k-se7e (ArGoSoft Mail Server Freeware, Version 1.8 (1.8.0.6)); Sat, 17 Jan 2004 18:09:10 +0100 Date: Sat, 17 Jan 2004 18:09:09 +0100 From: Cristina Atienza X-Mailer: The Bat! Open "plain links" is not possible yet, in 0.8. But there is 0.9 on a way, which in addition will support variables in plugin's Action field. So, I think if some plugin will contain the ConQuery will open whatever selected in the new tab :) The release of 0.9 is planned around Jan 23 or even sooner. Also, you can try Linky (http://linky.mozdev.org) - it does something similar. Vasa. I don't know if conquery author will answer here (he seems very busy and don't always read the newsletter...) I think also this feature could easyly be implemented, but there's other extension which do this ( ex: the "Plain Text Links" http://ted.mielczarek.org/code/mozilla/ ). IMHO the aim of "conquery" is to do query to services, not really to do tricks with selected text. And thanks to Christina for showing me a "side effect" of this feature :) 0.9 is almost up now and I've cheerfully spent some time to write such plugin and it truly works! They all work well, but I'm still testing them. I've a question (I'm not a programmer, my knowledge is very poor): one site to search has some rules to apply to different fields. I tryied to resume the rules in 'grouptitle' to help the search, but the result is a long line which makes the input window very large. Is there any way to split the text in 2 lines? It would be nice if we can save the default parameter in the "tune the plugin" (window opened when holding Ctrl key and selecting a plugin in the conquery sub menu). My workaround : edit the file altavistababelfish.cqr (in you /Mozilla/searchplugins directory) an move the line at the top of the "input input name=lp" list (just above the which was the default choice). The restriction on moving plugins to a Userette-chosen folder means that plugins remain in the ..\mozilla\ folder . . . but said folder gets deleted when a new version of Mozilla is installed, thusly clobbering all ConQuery plugins. Then I've installed ConQuery 1.2.0.20040909 (version 1.2.0.20040909) and some plugins for it: merriam-webster, acronymfinder, rfc and GoogleAdvanced. Everything worked fine until restart of Mozilla. By the way, I've installed also dictionarysearch (version 0.6.3) after ConQuery as root, and only for root, together with installing ConQuery. Then I've lost context menu from "Inspect This" and from MozTweaks. Strangely Linky menu hasn't stopped working. Diggler button has vanished also. All features of Mozilla were working well, as far as I know. I also have no ConQuery submenu. I've only seen it maybe once when using Mozilla as root... I've uninstalled ConQuery using Extension Uninstaller the context menu entries of InspectThis and MozTweaks came back; Diggler button and it's context menu came back also. So that is why it is most probable that it is ConQuery that is at fault. Besides I've used other extensions (at least Multizilla, Linky, Diggler and MozTweaks) together with no problems. I don't know if it is a right address to post bug reports. I'd rather not do it in 'Comments' section on ConQuery Mozdev page. I just subscribed, so if this list requires any kind of confirmation, you might want to cc: any responses to me at least through the weekend since my subscription may not be complete yet. I just found Conquery because the DictionarySearch extension hadn't yet been updated for Moz 1.0, and I really like having that kind of functionality. Conquery was already updated and seems to have more powerful features anyway. So I installed and will use many of the plugins already out there -- I use m-w.com all the time, and will often use acronymfinder and google and occasionally Babelfish, so thanks to whoever already made those. I've thrown together a few quick-n-dirty extensions of my own. I haven't collected icons or set up advanced features yet; it's Friday afternoon and I don't have time to get into that depth yet. You're welcome to offer suggestions -- especially the syntax part; I already know several ways they can be extended, especially the IMDB one. I'm familiar with regexps (and of course html and forms), just not most of the plugin syntax for Conquery. Anyway, the extensions I threw together are in: http://dan.black.org/conquery/ There are extensions for IMDB (the Internet Movie DataBase -- very nice when you see an article on the web on some actor and want to know what else they were in, or who's in a new film) and four package tracking plugins: USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL (formerly Airborne Express). The tracking ones I had put together in a web form long ago, so I already had all the form input requirements and pretty much just copy-and-pasted from my web form and made minor changes. They look like they all work, but I don't have any current tracking numbers to actually try (but the "not found" errors looked correct), so feel free to test them. I haven't put in anything to make sure your numbers fit the criteria; I don't know if I can do that in the plugin with regexps or not. If it's possible, I may try it. Oh, and I found one "bug", though it may already be known. I used and that made Mozilla freeze completely. I figured it out quickly, and even tried escaping it ("tracking \#"), but no luck. Just changed it to "tracking no.", but don't know if that's a big enough bug to document or even fix or not. Anyway, I doubt those plugins are robust enough for the "real world", but they're at least usable for me, and you're welcome to use them, suggest improvements, or make your own variations. :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's like magic. I am also having problems installing ConQuery, however, this is using Thunderbird under Windows XP. The extension apparently installs just fine, but the extension will not recognise any plugins of which I have downloaded several. Highlighting a word and right-clicking brings forth a menu which indeed includes a 'Query to ...' item, but includes no sub-items which of course is logical since no plugins were recognised. The Query plugin directory is set to C:\Programmer\Mozilla Thunderbird\searchplugins and this directory does include several *.cqr.txt files. I very much like to have this plugin to work. Any ideas? Well, immediately after I posted my question, I was able to get the GoogleAdvanced extension recognized. What I did was to define my own 'Query Plugin Directory' I then went to http://conquery.mozdev.org/plugins.html and clicked on the 'view' link for Google Advanced Search. I then saved this text to a file called GoogleAdvanced.cqr. This allowed me to see GoogleAdvanced appear in the 'Detected plugins' list and it does show up in the 'Query To...' menu. However, after selecting some text and selecting 'Google Advanced Search' from the menu, no search is performed. I did try holding down the control key so I could edit the text I had selected and, while the dialog to allow these edits did appear, pressing ok did not result in any search being performed. Can anyone confirm that this extension and plugin works with FireFox 1.0 under MacOSX 10.3.7? So, Uffe, you may want to try removing the .txt from those files (assuming they are valid .cqr files)...doing this may then allow ConQuery to detect the plugin, but things may still not work. -- == Eric Gorr ========= http://www.ericgorr.net ========= ICQ:9293199 == "Those who would sacrifice a little freedom for temporal safety deserve neither to be safe or free." - Benjamin Franklin == Insults, like violence, are the last refuge of the incompetent... === From nobody Mon Jan 3 15:02:57 2005 Received: (qmail 93857 invoked from network); 3 Jan 2005 19:56:31 -0000 Received: from pfepc.post.tele.dk (195.41.46.237) by mozdev.org with SMTP; 3 Jan 2005 19:56:31 -0000 Received: from [127.0.0.1] (0x5359dacd.vgnxx1.adsl.tele.dk [83.89.218.205]) by pfepc.post.tele.dk (Postfix) with ESMTP id E9528262828 for ; Mon, 3 Jan 2005 20:53:56 +0100 (CET) Message-ID: <41D9A2D1.40404@shelter.dk> Date: Mon, 03 Jan 2005 20:53:53 +0100 From: Uffe Holst User-Agent: Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0 (Windows/20041206) X-Accept-Language: en-us, en MIME-Version: 1.0 To: conquery@mozdev.org Subject: Re: [Conquery] Can't install ConQuery Plugin References: <41D99CE4.3000402@ericgorr.net> <41D9A0F7.9010607@shelter.dk> In-Reply-To: <41D9A0F7.9010607@shelter.dk> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-BeenThere: conquery@mozdev.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.2 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 03 Jan 2005 19:56:32 -0000 Uffe Holst wrote: > The Query plugin directory is set to > > C:\Programmer\Mozilla Thunderbird\searchplugins > > and this directory does include several *.cqr.txt files. I did wonder a bit about this double suffix. I downloaded them initially by right-clicking on the 'view' next to each plugin and then saving them to disk. This apparently added a .txt to the already existing .cqr suffix, creating a double suffix that was not there before. And therefore ConQuery wouldn't recognise the plugins. Well, I have just renamed all the plugins to have a *.cqr suffix, and ConQuery finds them all now. Perhaps the instructions on the searchplugin download page should be a bit more clear ... I don't use FireFox, so I don't know much about it. But you have noticed the ConQuery setting on the 'Preferences' tab called "Open query results in" which here default is set to "a new tab, in background". Perhaps it really works and you simply haven't noticed that it opens in the background. You could try one of the other settings and see what happens ... ? If I select 'a new tab, in background', it does not work. If I select 'a new tab, focused', it does not work. If I select 'a new window, in background', it does work. If I select 'a new window, focused', it does work. So, the bug would appear to be that ConQuery does not successfully tell FireFox to create a new tab. JS object clean up in FF 1.0.3 prevents some of the objects used by Conquery to work any more. Other objects need to be used. To use the fix on windows: 0- Make sure conquery 1.5.2 is installed. 1- Access the conquery.jar file under C:\Documents and Settings\YOURACCOUNTNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\a6ftep47.default\extensions\{34fba747-cbc2-4929-b00d-0e523ee94a6f}\chrome 2- Uncompress the jar and replace the conquery.js file under content/conquery with the text file at the bottom of the post. 3- Recompress the jar 4- Restart FF. My very simple changes have been annotated with the baub tag in the conquery.js file. Hope this helps to release an official build soon. -Christophe Baubert ------------------------------------------------------ conquery.js ----------------------------------------------------- var cqrPageSelection = ""; var cqrPageURL = ""; var cqrPageHost = ""; var cqrLinkURL = ""; var cqrImgName = ""; var cqrImgURL = ""; var cqrPageTitle = ""; var cqrAction = ""; var cqrActionPrompt = ""; var cqrConfigLastWillId = ""; var cqrConfigLastWillCtrl = false; var cqrTabRef = ""; var cqrWndRef = ""; if (cqrMailFlag){ var browser = getMessageBrowser(); }else{ var browser = getBrowser(); } //Tools menu handler function HandleToolsMenu(event){ try{ if (event.target.childNodes[0] && (event.target.childNodes[0].id == "menu_ToolsPopup" || event.target.childNodes[0].id == "taskPopup")){ var cqr_cfg = window.document.getElementById('cq-cfg-menu'); //This will require restarting, i know, but perfomance is important :) //cqrHideFromTools = prfs_ReadItem("Main.HideFromTools"); if (cqr_cfg) cqr_cfg.hidden = cqrHideFromTools; } //masking any error }catch(err){} } /// HotMenu.
