I prefer the idea of replacing the function to that of suppressing the 
menu item.  At the very least you could pop up a dialog box to tell the 
user to use the extension manager.  Actually launching the EM would be 
useful, as long as it does not cause "unpredictable" behaviour in Mozilla.
