I intalled one of the later nightly builds:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041017
Firefox/1.0

I set my home page to about:blank.  Nothing else is loaded no extensions,
nothing.  I started Firefox with the blank home page.

Memory footprint was as follows:

 7:20 p.m.  14,388
 7:30 p.m.  14,428
 7:50 p.m.  14,420
10:06 p.m.  15,756

I'd say it's growing about 1/2 MB per hour.
