[Companion] Bar is there but it is blank.

The toolbar works for me when I install in the "root" account but when I
install it as my normal user (and I'm logged into my Yahoo acct) I do
not get any buttons (or anything) on the bar.  The bar is just blank.

I've tried installing and uninstalling... then reinstalling.  No luck.

I've opened a terminal window and got root privileges... then installed
the toolbar but no joy.  (I'm not sure if signing in as root in the
terminal window extends root capabilities to all parts of the Gnome
session but I thought I'd give it a try.)

I've tried 0.5.4 and 1.0pr with the same results.  Also looked around
the yahoocompagion mozilla site but didn't see any reports of this
problem.  I probably missed it or there is something really simple I
need to correct.

Any ideas?

Fedora Core 3 with all the updates.  Current firefox browser.  Current
Gnome.
