[Companion] question on installing the companion

I am still new in Firefox world.  Just tried one
preview version and the official 1.0

I was trying to install the companion (yeah.. i love
teh bookmarks, etc).  However, when I clicked on the
install link, nothing happened.  The Javascript
console shows "XPInstall is not defined".

I used to think XPInstall is part of standard Firefox.
 I could be wrong.  So, can any of you help me and
give me a pointer to try?

I downloaded the xpi file, but no clue on how to use
the file...

Google shows bunch of XPInstall doc, but it seems to
me they are not related.
