One glimmer of hope - if you had upgraded from Clippings 1.x to 2.0
when the data loss occurred, look for the file "clipdat.rdf" in your
Firefox user profile folder - this is the data source file used by
Clippings 1.x.  If you open the file in a text editor and find that
your Clippings data is present (enclosed in a lot of XML content),
then your data is still intact.

If this is the case, then this points to a failed migration from
Clippings 1.x to 2.0.  If this is what happened, then you'll have to
revert back to Clippings 1.x.
