Some more info would help.  Such as, which version of Clippings did
you install?  Did you upgrade from Clippings 1.x, or is this a
first-time install?  What OS and version of Firefox are you using?
Was Firefox properly shut down the last time you did so, before you
noticed that your clippings are gone?  If you had upgraded from
Clippings 1.x, did this happen immediately after upgrading and
restarting Firefox, or did this happen after a few Firefox sessions?

If this occurred immediately after upgrading from Clippings 1.x, then
yes you will have to start over.  However, if you were able to use
Clippings 2.0 for some period of time before you noticed the data
loss, then you may be able to retrieve a backup from the .clipbak
folder in your Firefox user profile folder.  Find the backup file with
the most recent timestamp, move it to your Firefox user profile folder
and rename it clipdat2.rdf.

This problem has never occurred from my testing, and I would certainly
like to investigate this further, so the more useful info you can
provide the better I'll be able to find a solution to it.
