I am running Firefox 1.0.2.
I was looking for an easy way to have bookmarks open in a new tab and Click2Tab extension was recommended to me. That was when the problems started.
First I reviewed all 225 Firefox extensions. I could not locate it. Did a search for Click2 on the mozilla update site. No luck. Did a Google search of the entire web and found this site:
http://click2tab.mozdev.org/installation.html
It had a link Install Click2Tab 0.9.4 .
So I clicked on that and get an error message "To protect your computer, Firefox prevented this site (click2tab.mozdev.org) from installing software on your computer.
In desperation I revisited this site with IE and was able to download the file click2tab.xpi. (OUCH!)
So how do I install it? I read the archives and saw one message that you drag the .xpi file into the extensions window. I did this and everything seemed to work fine.
However, when I shutdown and restarted Firefox, and looked at the Tools/extensions it indicated that it click2tab would be installed after restarting Firefox. So I rebooted the PC and restarted Firefox and got the same results.
Fed-up I clicked to uninstall this extension. Now when I view the extensions I find a message "This item will be uninstalled after you restart Firefox.
So now I don't have it and can't get rid of it.
Helpful feedback would be appreciated.
Doug
