[Camino] slow download

I am using Camino 1.1b, MacOS 10.3.9. If I do several downloads the 
speed continuously declines. I understand it should slow with each 
additional download, but it keeps going down,way down. I'm using a v.90 
dialup modem. It got so bad on one occurrance, that all but one download 
was done, and the last one was being downloaded at 3BYTES/sec.

Is there a download cashe I need to empty? Please help.
