Expanding on this, if we did as pink suggested and cached the 
thumbnails (like how we do site icons), they could be independent of 
cache...and then there would be thumbnails available to help me 
figure out which pages on sites that refuse to use unique titles were 
which, even after a crash.

So now I have a use-case for this :-)
