Sorry, the post above lost my reference to the tab key when it loaded.  It should have read:

If: I have used Auto Copy to copy some text, and then I enter a search word into the GoogleBar (leaving the cursor blinking at the end of the search word) and then I MiddleClick the G (Google Search), then Auto Copy copies its text onto the search word in the GoogleBar before the search opens in a new tab. The search is corrupted.


But if: after entering the search word into the GoogleBar I use the tab-key to shift the focus out of the GoogleBar (removing the cursor from blinking at the end of the search word), the search begins as expected in a new tab.
