There is a flash banner at http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=76051 that AB+ seems to incorrectly identify as coming from macromedia rather than atdmt.com. Else, have you enabled the function "Check banner link" ? I tried reloading this page a few times with Adblock Plus disabled but the only flash banner I see is from adq.nextag.com that shows up correctly in the sidebar. Could you give details on what you mean by "seems to incorrectly identify"? Are you looking it up in the sidebar or clicking the "Adblock" tab or something else? I don't think this message is from Mozilla Suite, maybe you meant Firefox? In Mozilla Suite and SeaMonkey you find this option in Edit / Preferences, there you have "enable software installation" under Advanced / Software Installation. In Firefox this option isn't available via user interface, I think. You can go to about:config (simply enter this address in location bar), find the entry for xpinstall.enabled and change it to true by double-clicking the line. These are used by Adblock Plus, see http://adblockplus.mozdev.org/preferences.html. Most of them should be at their default value meaning that they don't take any space in your prefs.js. > I'm asking because I *think* > I remember you once saying you stored all settings in an external file. That's not the case, the external file only stores the filters. The settings are still in preferences where they can be changed more easily. > And finally, if those entries are from your Adblock+, what is > extensions.adblockplus.patterns used for? There are some regexps stored > in the key, but none of them are actually used in Adblock. See link above, everything is explained there. Message-ID: <446F6430.1020707@bellsouth.net> I am elated with ADBLOCKPLUS. It is a great add on to my browser. I have one question regarding its use. When I click on the adbloc logo (watermark under an ad) a window opens up asking me if I want to block this ad. Of course I want to block it. Then a lot of times I have to click on the adblock again and a large window opens up asking me if I want to add a filter. I have to click Add. Finally I have to click again to OK. I find it curious that when one clicks on an ad to get rid of it, why does it take three additional clicks to get rid of it. This is not a complaint, I just don't understand the reason for the extra steps that are necessary to get rid of the ad. It would be nice to have the ad disappear after clicking on the ADBLOCK watermark. What's this? Adblock Plus 0.6+ doesn't ask for confirmation, it will always open the preferences. > Of course I want to block it. Then a lot of times I have to > click on the adblock again and a large window opens up asking me if I > want to add a filter. I have to click Add. Finally I have to click again > to OK. The thing is, usually you don't want to add the complete address as a filter - you use wildcards to replace the parts of the address that will change on reload. So you edit the filter suggestion, compare it to the other filters you have there already - and only then you click Add to add it to the list. There is no way to spare you this click. This is a proper dialog, so you have to press OK to confirm the changes. And yes, this is annoying if you only wanted to add one filter. That's what http://bugzilla.mozdev.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14049 is about. > I find it curious that when one clicks on an ad to get rid of it, why > does it take three additional clicks to get rid of it.
