[Jslib] question about installation on linux

Following up the earlier discussion, I saw that a "user-mode" install
of jslib had been made available (i.e., one that goes into my personal
.mozilla structure, instead of into the site ---
/usr/local/lib/mozilla in my case).
I installed jslib successfully, and can find the directory:
[rpg@tsathoggua macbeth]$ ls ~/.mozilla/default/<dirname-deleted>/chrome/jslib/
contents.rdf install jslib.js network sound xul
debug io jslib.xul rdf utils zip
but when I try to follow the instructions on the web page to test it
out, it doesn't work. All I get is an error message saying:
The file /usr/lib/mozilla/chrome/packages/core/jslib.xul cannot be
found. Please check the location and try again.
My best guess is that the special chrome url isn't working to check my
user chrome directory.
I'm using a slightly old mozilla (v. 1.0.1), so perhaps I just need to
upgrade. Any advice? Any way to debug this problem?
Thanks,
R
